God is Like the Wind-Part 2

Powerful.....

Wind is a powerful force, if you have ever been in a hurricane or a tornado (I haven't) you know just how powerful . Look at Exodus 15:6 for an example, "Your right hand, Lord, was majestic in power. Your right hand, Lord, shattered the enemy. ." The Israelites were up against some of the most powerful nations on earth, but God cleared their path with ease. If you read on to 15:16 you see that even the pagan nations they passed through knew that our God was great.

However the wind isn't always like this, and neither is God. You know that moment when you're ridiculously hot and your sweating like crazy and a cooling breeze comes out of nowhere? God is like this too, cooling, calming, and gentle. Nothing spectacular, no writing on the wall, just a gentle touch when you're feeling down, when things are getting rough. Check out 1 Kings 19:11-12 "Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper."

God Is Like the Wind-Part 1

Since it's Sabbath I decided to give the book a break and do something a little more God centered. I've had a thought floating through my mind lately and I thought I would share it with you guys. I really like analogies, or maybe their similes, or metaphors, I'm not really sure which (I know, I know, what kind of a writer am I right?) and one in particular has really stuck with me, and if you read the title I think you know what it is. Instead of doing one post about all of the different reasons this fits I have decided to talk about each reason in a separate post. My plan is to post one every Sabbath (Friday night or Saturday, it depends, especially with school restarting), but that is subject to change. Well then, let's get to it!

You can't see it, but you can see it's presence.
I would say that for me this is the biggest similarity at all. People are always saying they don't believe in God because they can't see him, you can't see the wind either but do you think anyone would deny it's existence? No, because you can feel it, you can see it's touch on the world around you. It could be something as little as a floating leaf or as big as a bending tree. God is like that, just because you can't see Him does not mean that He isn't there. You can see his presence in the world and on other people. It could be the single flower in a dirty street, or the orphan with no reason to smile who does anyways. Or maybe it's the person who managed to survive against the odds. Basically, it's anywhere that there is hope, love, or beauty. After all, can you think of another reason for these things to happen?

Trailer update!

I am super pumped right now because the trailer for The Peasant is almost finished! I just have to find a few more pictures and one sound effect and I'll be done! By the way, does anyone have a sound effect of clashing swords or something like that? I've found the perfect sound in the game Sid Meyer's Pirates, (It's the sound that you hear anytime that you take over a ship) but I have no idea how I would get it, or if it would even be legal to use it. If anyone knows of something similar please let me know!

New Theme

As you may have noticed I just switched the theme, and while I love the background I'm worried it's hard to see. If it is please let me know!

First printout!

This morning I was able to print out The Peasant and send it off to my editor (who also happens to be my English teacher). That's the great thing about living in a close community, everyone helps each other out. My teacher is my editor, my best friend is my encouragement, and my brother is my "marketing team". If you are working on a book of your own try asking your friends and family for help. Even if you are going through a traditional publishing method it can still help to have friends in your corner.
